Marin commuters arriving at the new Greyhound Interurban Terminal at Sansome and Sacramento Sts. on the first morning of the new bus service over the Golden Gate Bridge. (3-1-41) In 1941, Greyhound took over Marin County commuter service from the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. Their sleek new Greyhound Interurban bus terminal opened on March 1 at the southeast corner of Sansome and Sacramento streets, right next to the landmark classical Federal Reserve Bank (it's the one in the background on the left). The bus depot closed December 1, 1950, and in its place went 340-350 Sansome, a 10-story office building constructed in 1952 and home to a myriad of offices and ground-floor retail.
This depot opened when Greyhound took over Marin County commuter service from the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. The cable car line was closed on Valentine’s Day 1942, and the bus depot closed December 1, 1950. On that date Marin County Greyhound commute began using north end of the Ferry Building.
